ABOUT US

Raheel Siddiqi, an accountant by profession, living in Toronto, Canada, for the last 25 years, resolved one day to help the underprivileged in Pakistan as a way of giving back to his homeland.

Inspired by the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu's saying "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a life time. " he decided to set up a welfare fund called Madadgar (definition: ally, one who assists, helpful towards something). It's goal is to enable those who want a way to enhance their income by providing the financial means to do so, as well as providing donations and supplies to those in need.

By pooling his personal resources along with inviting family, friends and social contacts to participate in this cause, they managed to collect a small sum. Due to the financial limitations of relying solely on donor funding, Raheel opted to invest the donations in Islamic growth certificates as a means of regenerating these funds on a continual basis.  The profits go towards charities or loans as needed and provide a means of sadqa-e-jariah to the donors.

  1. The proposal for welfare shall be submitted by the head of the family, on the prescribed online form.
  2. The submitted proposal shall be examined by assigned members of the Madadgar Board and/or a nominated committee member.
  3. The proposal's approval or rejection is within the committee members' sole prerogative.
